EVALUATION OF ADAPTIVE POTENTIAL OF COLLECTIVE MATERIAL OF CARROT (DAUCUS CAROTA L.) ON THE BASIS OF "TOTAL ROOT YIELD" AND "Β-CAROTENE CONTENT"

Keywords: carrots, yield, genotype, biochemical composition, adaptability, carotene

Abstract

The aim of the research. To reveal the potential adaptive features of the breeding material of carrots (Daucus carota L.) according to the indicators of "total yield of root crops" and "β-carotene content". Methods. Field, laboratory, computational and statistcal. Results. According to the results of studies in 2018–2020 for the agro-climatic zone of the Left Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine, a comprehensive study was conducted to determine the parameters of adaptive capacity of carrot samples Daucus carota L. and identified promising varieties as valuable genetic sources for adaptive selection. Among the analyzed samples, the variety Yaskrava stood out, which had the best indicator of the total yield of root crops and adaptive capacity for the same parameter (Xmed = 24.33 t / ha, SVGI = 15.10). According to the content of β-carotene in root crops for further research, the Marchew Jadalna sample was distinguished, which over the years of research showed a consistently high content of this valuable biochemical substance, which was reflected in the high breeding value of the genotype g, SVGI = 6.47). Two samples of Kuroda SX and Shantane Red Cord were identified, which showed low dependence on environmental conditions (bi <1) and are valuable genetic sources for adaptive selection. According to the indicator "β-carotene content" in carrot roots over the years of research, 4 samples were isolated that had a consistently high level of manifestation of this trait: standard variety Shantane Skvirske (Xmed = 8.54 / 100 g), Marchew Jadalna (Xmed = 8 ,49 mg / 100 g), Kuroda SX (Xmed = 7.40 mg / 100 g), Kuroda (Xmed = 7.05 mg / 100 g). The Katrin sample with bi = 0.64 became a stable source for the manifestation of the sign "β-carotene content" in root crops (bi <1). Conclusions. The conducted research made it possible to analyze the adaptive potential of the original breeding material of carrots (Daucus carota L.) according to the indicators "yield of root crops" and "β-carotene content". The conducted dispersion analysis of field data made it possible to identify ecologically sustainable sources with high general and specific adaptive capacity according to both studied indicators.
